Many of Vienna’s Christmas markets are within easy reach of the Hotel SPIESS & SPIESS. We’ll also share our favourite spots here for a festive Advent visit with the family. **Christmas Market at Rathausplatz: Festive Classics** The **Vienna Christmas Market at Rathausplatz** is one of the city’s most famous Christmas markets. Against the backdrop of Vienna City Hall, the lights and the sprawling market create a particularly festive cityscape. It’s perfect for a leisurely stroll and can be combined with a walk through the city center. In 2026, the market will take place from **November 13 to December 26.** **Between the KHM and the NHM: Christmas village on Maria-Theresien-Platz** ****Maria-Theresien-Platz**** is situated between the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Naturhistorisches Museum. During Advent, the square is transformed into a Christmas village with festively decorated stalls. A visit here can be wonderfully combined with a trip to the museums or a stroll through the city centre. The Christmas village will be open in 2026 from **20 November to 26 December**. **Spittelberg Christmas Market: ** **Advent in the alleyways**-** **If you prefer strolling through narrow alleyways rather than across large squares, the Spittelberg Christmas Market is the place for you. Market stalls line the historic alleyways around Spittelberggasse, Stiftgasse, Schrankgasse and Gutenberggasse. Handicrafts, small gift ideas and winter delicacies invite you to explore. Spittelberg is particularly lovely when you let yourself wander at a leisurely pace.  In 2026, the Christmas market will take place from **13 November to 23 December**. **Our family recommendation: Art Advent at Karlsplatz** ****The **Art Advent at Karlsplatz** is one of our favourite Christmas markets in Vienna. Here, the focus is on arts and crafts and organic food. There’s plenty to discover amongst the stalls, and there’s entertainment for children too. For our children, a visit to Karlsplatz is simply a must. The scent of freshly baked **Kiachln, also known as Bauernkrapfen**, is a very special part of Advent for us. It’s best to allow plenty of time, have a look at the arts and crafts stalls and enjoy a warm treat in between.  The Art Advent at Karlsplatz will take place in 2026 from **13 November to 23 December**. **A day-out idea for the whole family: Grafenegg** ****Another of our favourites is the Christmas market at **Grafenegg Castle and Castle Park**. From **5 to 8 December 2026**, a visit here makes for a special Advent outing outside the city. There is a direct bus service from Vienna to the Christmas market. If you’d like to round off the day in festive style, you can also attend a concert in Grafenegg in the evening. It’s lovely, especially with children, to experience somewhere different during Advent as well as the Viennese markets. It’s best to allow plenty of time for your journey and a possible concert visit. **Discover Vienna’s Christmas markets from the comfort of the hotel** ****Whether it’s arts and crafts at Karlsplatz, a stroll through the alleyways of Spittelberg or a visit to Rathausplatz: Vienna’s Advent markets offer the perfect outing for all tastes. From the SPIESS & SPIESS Hotel, you can reach the city centre quickly thanks to the **Rochusgasse U3 station, just a few steps away**, or take the **bus 4A, which runs approximately 200 metres away, you can take bus 4A directly to Karlsplatz without having to change.**After a day spent amongst the lights, market stalls and winter treats, a peaceful atmosphere awaits you here in the 3rd district, where you can round off the day, for example, in our sauna area The next morning, start your day with our **extensive breakfast buffet**. **It is 100% organic and features fresh, seasonal produce from the region.**Look forward to bread and pastries, cheese, spreads, muesli, yoghurt, fruit and fresh cakes. You’ll also find vegan and gluten-free options at the buffet. This is accompanied by freshly brewed organic coffee and a variety of teas.
